Wallace Howe was the husband of the late Mary Emily Locke. She died on September 8, 1951. Mr. And Mrs Howe celebrated their golden anniversary in 1947
Mr. Howe was a member of the Hope Club, the Art Club, and the Turks Head Club of Providence, the Tavern Club on Boston, the Bristol Yacht Club, the Churchman's Club of Rhode Island, the R. I. Historical Society and the Bristol Historical Society.
He lived at 221 Hope St., Bristol.
Mr. Howe was a co-founder of the Clark and Spaulding, Providence architects in 1898, later it became Clark and Howe. Subsequently, the firm was known as Howe and Church. In 1936 Mr. Howe became associated with the late Earl Prout, and the firm is now known as Howe and Prout.
Mr. Howe left four sons, one of them George Locke Howe of Fulton MD., Who is an architect and writer who won a $15,000 award for his novel "Call it Treason" and authored "Mount Hope" a history of the Howe Family of Bristol. Another son, the Rev Halsey DeWolfe Howe of Gladyne PA.,who is upholding a family tradion of following a church career in Pennsylvania. Other sons are Wallace E. Howe Jr. of Garden City, NJ, and Dr. Herbert M. Howe of Madison, WI. Two daughters survive, Mrs.W.Scott Keith of Springfield, MA.,and Mrs Philomon Sturges of Chestnut Hill, PA.
Twenty three grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A brother, M. a. DeWolfe Howe of Cambridge, MA., survive.
His service was held on Saturday at the St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Bristol. Canon Delbert W. Tildesley officiated. Burial followed in the Juniper Hill Cemetery, Bristol.
