Cook, Hartwell Lee

Hartwell Lee Cook, 97, died Friday May 25, 2007 at The Arbor. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson. Graveside funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Cook was born August 25, 1909, in Hazlehurst, MS. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Electrical School. Later he moved to Jackson where he worked for Cabell Electric and General Electric. He then started as a manufacturer's representative Hartwell Cook and Associates. He was a member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church.
During his active life, Mr. Cook wrote several books, was a member of the Optimist Club, First Families of MS, the "Nutty Fruity Guys", the Over the Hill Gang, and a charter member of Colonial Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed grafting.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by parents, Edwin Magruder and Mary Sorsby Cook; wives, Elizabeth Allen Cook and Zoe Hebert Cook; brothers Edwin Cook and Emerson Cook; sisters, Mamie Gray Greaves, Roberta Martin and Alma Cook.
Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth Cook Tickner and her husband Robert of Monroe, LA; three grandsons, the highlight of his life, Bobby Tickner and his wife Jennifer, and their children Robert and George of Madison; James Tickner and his wife Stephanie and their children Emily and Hartwell of Mandeville, LA; and William Tickner and his wife Missy, and their children Zoe and Alle of Madison. A very special thank you is extended to longtime caregiver and special friend Debbie Warren and to Dr. Cathy Gregg.
